I have Clover bamboo size 2's, and I am not loving them. My yarn store lady sold me some Brittany's today - she says they are harder wood and thinks I'll like them more.
PS: When your 2 year old wakes up before you and tries to put on his glasses, thereby mangling the crap out of them, it is a very good reason to drive to town because the glasses need fixing. And as long as you are in town, it is a very good reason to go to the yarn store. And buy the Interweave Socks book that Tracy mentioned. And some new needles. And to fondle a lot of yarn. I have my next colorway picked out but I didn't get it yet - gotta do the rainbow stripes first. :-)
PPS: Tracy - good girl, getting Erin on board! We shall take over the world! Bwahahahaha.
PPSS (??): Traci - found the band that G cleverly hid. It is Cascade Fixation. No colorway listed that I can see.

I am loving my knitpicks DPNs. I just can't stand wood needles most of the time.
Forgot to add... if I absolutely MUST use wood DPNs, the Crystal Palace seem to be the least annoying.
I've using the Lantern Moon Socks Stix and really liking them. They ARE a lot slower than the addi turbo metal circs I'm used to, but they're gorgeous and soft and have so much "stick" that I don't have to worry about Will pulling the needles out of my knitting (as I would with metal DPNs). The only thing is that one of them snapped 2 days ago, and I wrote to the company but haven't heard back. At $20 for a set, I'll be pissed if they don't replace snapped ones.
Does it have a number on the band? Sometimes the big companies don't do names for their colorways, just numbers. I seriously want to find it--it's a cute and unusual colorway!
I use metal dpns. Cheap ones - the Susan Bates ones that you can pick up at Joann's. I wouldn't necessarily recommend them, but at the moment they work for me. I read somewhere though that the Tofutsies are especiallly slippery, so I may need to pick up a set of wood dpns to do my next pair.
I have some Susanne's Rosewood/Ebony DPN that someone gave me. They're gorgeous, and I like that they're very short.
I just got a set of Sox Stix in size 0 and was crushed when one snapped after 5 rows. I heard on the Knitty coffeeshop board that they are good about replacing them, but I also emailed them a couple of days ago and haven't heard back either.
This is good info. I am liking the Brittany. I think they are made of ash? But I'm only about 1/2 way thru the first sock I've attempted with them, so we'll see.
I will check out these suggestions, too. Thanks!
Traci,
I got an email back from them [Lantern Moon] the other day and they said they would replace my snapped needle when the next shipment came in.
I just got some short rosewood dpns, size 2. I'm not sure who makes them - I tossed them into a Joanns.com order to qualify for free shipping. I'll report back once I've used them!
