Pair No. 2

I love the colorway of these, but I don't think I'll be doing plain stockinette stitch for the body of the sock again. I got bored and was tempted to not finish the second sock. I love the self striping, though. I have another sock done in self striping yarn and did the retro rib pattern from the Interweave Knits book, and it got lost in the stripe. Thus, the reason for the stockinette socks this time. And this yarn has aloe vera in it - is that typical? The yarn is super soft and feels nice, albeit a bit slippery.

I am still getting ladders where I pick up the stitches on the gussett area ... any suggestions?

Needles: Brittany DPNs size 2 (3 of them)
Yarn: Austermann Step (I think this is the name?? the label is mostly in German) in Dune (11).
Pattern: The Yarn Harlot's "sock recipe" from diynetwork.com (also handy to have the episode tivo'd and be able to watch the parts that I have trouble with!)

Jen, you rock! I love the yummy colors in these socks and I think they look great. I hear you on the boring though. I'm all about making my knitting interesting, or else I'm tempted to poke myself in the eye with my needle. :p

The socks look great! Oh and that's some fancy yarn with the aloe in it. Not typical in sock yarn, but the "Step" brand yes.

Look great! I love the colors!

Just a note on the ladders - if you knit the picked-up stitches through the back loop, it twists them and helps prevent the "ladder" look!

Gorgeous socks. The colors are very nice. PinkPorcupine, that is a good tip. Thanks. I need ALL the help I can get!

These are gorgeous, Jen! I love the colorways you've chosen so far--they wouldn't ever jump out at me at the store (I'm too busy being hypnotized by the greens) but now I'm gonna buy me some brown and orange yarn--it looks GORGEOUS on your feet! Of course, I should probably knit up the yarn I just bought up in Denver first! :P stupid yarn--so much slower to knit than to buy.

I love the Austermann Step Yarn. So soft and such lovely colors. I'm making my third pair now, in the "earth (erde)" colorway.

I'm working on a pair of socks in Austermann Step in the Monkey pattern (from Knitty, but I don't mind knitting stockinette too. Def. a personal choice. The Austermann Step yarn has aloe and jojoba oil in it, so that's why it feels like that, it's intentional. I'm enjoying knitting with mine. Your socks look great!
